What is Feldenkrais®?

Feldenkrais is a method of somatic education which utilizes movement as a tool for learning new ways of functioning and being. It offers a unique approach which complements and supports a yoga practice by revealing how we have established habits in how we move and introducing greater ease, efficiency and choice.
Whether seeking greater mobility, coordination or balance, recovering from injury, striving for athletic or artistic prowess, or creating greater self awareness, Feldenkrais® teaches you how to realize your movement capacity and effectively bring your intentions into action.

The Feldenkrais Method is taught through two modalities--individual hands-on Functional Integration® sessions and group Awareness through Movement® classes or workshops. At Mountain Yoga we are pleased to offer both.

Sonja H. Sutherland, founder of Learning In Action, is a certified Feldenkrais practitioner of ten years. Her background includes a Masters in Dance, a black belt in Aikido and years of on-going studies in somatic psychology. She offers individualized hands-on sessions which are custom tailored to address the unique needs and interests of each person. With gentle, precise, instructive touch, she teaches new ways of sensing, feeling and moving with greater ease and awareness. Sonja also teaches Awareness through Movement group classes, workshops and leads somatic retreats.
