One common question we receive is,
what style of yoga do we offer? Many of our teachers offer a Hatha
Blend class, which integrates the alignment of Iyengar Yoga
with the flowing dynamics of Vinyasa Yoga.
Iyengar Yoga refers to a practice originally developed by BKS
Iyengar. Iyengar Yoga cultivates proper bodily structure and meditative
awareness through precise alignment in the poses. Yoga props (such
as blocks and bolsters) are often used to help students of all levels
experience proper alignment.
The word vinyasa refers to a flowing sequence of yoga poses
linked through conscious awareness of the breath. Vinyasa practice
cultivates physical vitality and bodily awareness through a rhythmic,
dynamic practice. There are several styles of vinyasa yoga
including but not limited to the Ashtanga style as developed
and taught by Pattabhi Jois.
A few of our classes focus on either Iyengar or Vinyasa
Yoga. Our Hatha Blend classes integrate the two styles.
We encourage students new to our studio to try out a few different
classes. Each of our teachers brings to Mountain Yoga specific training
and a unique perspective. Finding the teacher and style of Yoga most
appropriate for you is an important key to building a successful practice.
Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep is an ancient practice to specifically unwind the nervous system by moving through four of your brain’s natural states where true relaxation and rejuvenation can occur. Allow yourself to be lead through a profound relaxation experience while you lie back and listen to the soothing voice of the instructor as you move beyond your reactions and into your ability to witness. In less than an hour you will be guided to breathe, relax your body, rotate your consciousness to deep levels of relaxation, meditation and rest. Experience the peaceful stillness of a quiet mind and discover your unique ability to change everything by doing nothing at all.
Another common question is, what level class should I take? We currently
offer three levels:
Level 1 for beginners (less than three months of yoga experience)
Level 2 for continuing beginners (less than a year of yoga experience)
Level 3 for intermediate/advanced students (more than a year of yoga
experience)
We encourage students who have never tried yoga before to attend one
of our Introduction to Yoga 4 week series. Many of our classes are listed
as multiple levels. |
